SOME ANSWERS for this Question "If
you will be given a post to serve OFWs what could be your plans
to protect or serve the Filipino Workers Worldwide?"
> Bahrain:
Anne - Luxury Building Manager - First start from the
origin Manpower gency should be filtered properly in that case they
can not send any worker illegally. Because problem starts from them
they never tell the truth to applicant because they want only the
money and they never think over the future or welfare of OFW destination.
Have an open talk to all foriegn countries.
> Bermuda:
Pinoy in Bermuda - Asst. Financial Controller - Give
more attention to DH Filipinas as they are most vulnerable esp.
to those deployed in middle east. To have thorough profile check
of prospective employers before deploying them to avoid and prevent
horrible abuse and maltreatment they have to endure.
> Canada:
Ms. "D" - Nurse - first of all the sexual
harassement / rape, abuse, maltreatment, beating, killing , delaying
or not giving the salary at all etc.(i myself talked those employers
pretend to be friends/relative of many filpino d.h. who didn't received
their salary.)more over seems the victim was the one who has to
be scared of them after what they did.
> China:
"ABC" - Teacher - OFW's should be given priorities
when returning back home with regards to working priveledge in our
country.
> China:
Jojo Dancel - An Engineer in China - First, I plan
to abolish the POEA and the OWWA and established a common agency
that will help our OFWs. I will make sure that the agency will be
highly computerized and is linked up with every country where there
are OFWs. I will link up with the DFA and CB to upgrade our passports
- have it modernized - it reflects on our country and the people
as a whole.
> China:
Raymon - Teacher - I will crack down all the illegal
recruiters. Hindi lang buhay ng idibidual ang sinisira nila kundi
pagtingin ng iabng bansa sa ating bansa sa kabuuan. Sila ang mga
anay ng lipunan.

> Going
To NAIA Airport Tips and Instructions - For OFWs, especially
those first-timer ones, I'm sure that you're quite nervous on your
way to NAIA. Of course, you're much nervous if you're in the foreign
land already but I can tell you some Tips or Instructions (based
on my own experience) about going or inside the NAIA Airport (to
help you to relax a bit).
> How to succeed
as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) - There
are many Overseas Filipino Workers who work abroad for many years
but are not successful and no investments were acquired by the time
that they have already retired.
> Many Unsuccessful
Overseas Filipino Workers are Coming Back Home - The
very first thing that causes an OFW not to save enough from his
overseas work earnings is due to the exorbitant placement fees and
other unnecessary fees that he has to pay prior to his departure
for work abroad. Recruitment agencies, licensed or unlicensed, take
advantage of poor job applicants who want to work overseas.
> Travel Tips
For Overseas Filipino Workers- Don't buy or packed so many things in your baggage which are
less important. It will just cause traveling discomfort if you have
so much baggage to check in or to be hand carried along. This could
also add your expenses, because you need to pay some charges for
the Excess Baggage.
> Ways to Avoid
Illegal Recruitment (with Simple explanation) - A reminder
from POEA and DOLE (with some explanation by OFW-C Author...)
Do not apply at recruitment agency not authorized by POEA.
- But it's not because they're authorized you'll now fully trust
them, there's a fellow OFW who was tricked by authorized agency,
yes they issued him a receipt required by POEA which is one month
salary, but actually he paid three times the amount but issued receipt
is less than what he has paid!

- OFWs on the Road to Empowerment - The recent furor
over Malu Fernandez's controversial "From Boracay to Greece"
commentary has brought to the forefront of debate the issue of political
power -- or lack of power -- of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Little did Fernandez, a Manila Standard society columnist, realize
that the article she wrote for her targeted audience -- Manila's
elite -- would incite a riot in cyberspace. A torrent of emails
flooded the Internet blogs. Her arrogant response which was printed
in her column further infuriated the OFWs and the protests snowballed
into an avalanche that knocked her out cold. Stunned, she quit her
job. Call it "mob" justice or any other term. She deserved
it.
* OWWA
Insurance and Health-Care Program Benefits - Isa rin

Tanging combined Chemotherapy at Radiation
Therapy na lamang po ang lunas at ang disability ko po ay nalagay
sa Total Permanent.
* The
Pros and Cons of the Proposed Dept for OFW - Dear Friends,
For us to be able to see if it is really better to have just one
agency to take care of OFW/OF
as proposed, or just retain the status quo, let us take a closer
look at the following areas of concern. Please add your own assessment
of the current set up, as well as what would happen if a single
agency, a department, is created. Regards, -francis
